Wow! More wonderful ideas on the usues of coconut oil and sugar.
I, too, use lots of coconuts — linament oil and virgin coconut oil.
And of course, its water is a great health drink!
We just bought some fresh coconut’s. I have been trying to figure out what to do with them and how to cut them! I will have to make sure and save the water. I bet it’s very tasty!
Thanks for stopping by!
I love anything coconut! Will have to try this. Thanks for linking up!
Hi Robyn, I’m making a pampering gift basket for my pregnant best friend for Christmas. I’ve been searching all around the internet for all the most interesting homemade pampering ideas. I found your blog and there are SO many interesting things on here! I was just wondering about this body butter, how long will it stay whipped like that? Also, can I add some peppermint oil to give it a peppermint smell? (I’m going with peppermint themed ideas since it is Christmas) Also, do you think I could add something for a coloring agent such as strawberry or raspberry juice to make it red, but not to stain the skin? I’d love your input on everything!
Yes, you can definitely add some peppermint essential oil to it. I would use about 1/2 teaspoon or so for a really nice coconut peppermint smell.
The one thing I have found about the coconut oil is that it is a little picky when it comes to the temperature of the room. If you live some place really warm it will liquify and will need to be kept in a cool place. I live on the coast of Oregon and I haven’t had any problems with this happening. If it does liquify it will just need to be beat again to return it to its whipped form. Mine has stayed whipped for months.
I have not experimented with adding color to any of my products. I would think adding a lttle bit of juice like you mentioned would work just fine. You could even try beet juice. I wouldn’t use to much as it may color the skin when she uses it.
I hope that answers all of your questions! If you have any more just let me know and I will do my best to answer!
