Bishop’s Bread

Years ago, I was given this recipe from my Aunt LuAnne.
This bread is really more of a coffee cake than actual bread.
 It taste great, whether you eat it hot out of the oven or after it is cooled.
 Is it healthy, no, it has tons of sugar in it, so around here it only gets made on special occasions.
 

Bishop’s Bread
 


Here is what you will need:
2 1/2 cups Flour
2 1/2 cups Brown Sugar
1/2 cup Butter, softened
pinch of Salt
1/2 cup Milk
1 cup Sour Cream
1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
1 teaspoon Baking Powder
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1 egg
 
 
Using your fingers mix flour, brown sugar, butter, and salt.
Reserve 2/3 cup for topping.
 
 
Add milk and sour cream, stir to mix.
 
 
Add baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon and egg.
Mix well. Batter will be thick.
 
 
Pour batter into a 9×13 baking dish.
 
 
Sprinkle topping on top of batter and bake at 350 degrees for about 35 minutes.
