DIY Silver Polish
If you are like me and you own silver cutlery, silver jewelry, or even antique silver pieces, you want to be sure you are taking proper care of them. Keeping your silver clean is a great way to make sure it lasts and always looks its best. But what is the best product to use? Most store bought silver polishing solutions are full of chemicals and can leave you light headed! Instead, why not try making your own? Take a peek below at how to make your own DIY silver polish that is frugal, natural, and effective.
DIY Silver Polish
1 cup of boiling Water
1 tablespoon of Baking Soda
1 tablespoon of Table Salt
½ cup White Vinegar
The size bowl you use depends on how much silver you have to polish. The more you have, the larger you may want your bowl to be.
1. Begin by lining the inside of your bowl with the tinfoil. You want the shiny side of the foil to be facing you, not the bowl.
2. Pour the baking soda, salt, and vinegar into the bowl. Stir it gently.
3. Set your silver pieces on top of the mixture.
4. Pour the hot, boiling water into the bowl. BE CAREFUL.
Now, allow the pieces to hang out for awhile. You can gently flip the pieces of silver as they soak. This way all of the sides will get covered. The amount of time you leave the pieces in is up to you and may depend on the amount of tarnish. When they are to the desired cleanliness, remove and rinse. Wipe dry with a soft cloth.
Your silver will shine like new, and the mixture will have done all the work for you. Give this simple silver polish solution a try! It is a great way to make your silver shine for less and without the use of harsh, nose burning chemicals.
