Fajita Seasoning Mix
If you want Fajitas that rival the flavor of your favorite restaurant this mix can get you there. It couldn’t be easier to mix up and it is the perfect blend of spicy and smokey. I have used this fajita seasoning mix for stove top fajita’s and for crock pot fajitas. It is great to use with both chicken and steak, as well as just to flavor grilled chicken breasts. You will not be disappointed if you give this recipe a try. This would also be a great Gift In a Jar for Father’s Day, Christmas, or any other holiday that you need a little something special to give to someone.
Homemade Fajita seasoning Mix
2 Tablespoons Cornstarch
1 ½ Tablespoons Chili Powder
2 teaspoons Paprika
2 teaspoons Sugar
1 teaspoon dried, Diced Onion
½ teaspoon Garlic Powder
½ teaspoon Cayenne
½ teaspoon Cumin
1 ½ teaspoon Bouillon-Chicken or Beef
Combine all ingredients with a whisk to mix well.
This batch makes the equivalent of 3 seasoning packets.
Once you have sauteed your chicken, onions and green peppers for a few minutes combine with 2 Tablespoons of fajita mix and 1/3 cup of water. Simmer on medium heat until chicken is cooked through and vegetables are tender, stirring frequently.
If you are making crock pot fajitas just stir in your seasoning mix and water right at the beginning to infuse flavor.
To kick up your fajitas:
Add juice of ½ a lime while cooking. Stir in sour cream just before removing from pan to create a creamy sauce for your fajitas. You can also add a little chipotle to your seasoning mix for added sizzle.
Give this Fajita Seasoning Mix a try the next time you are making fajita’s. Do you have a favorite or secret ingredient you like to add to your fajita’s? Tell me about it in the comments!
