Green Tea and Honey Face Scrub
Now that the hustle and bustle of the holidays are over it is time to treat yourself to a new facial scrub. This Green Tea and Honey Face Scrub is simple to put together. It is made from basic pantry ingredients that almost everyone probably has on hand. It will leave your skin soft and radiant, and the scent will incorporate some aromatherapy into your mini spa experience.
Each ingredient offers something beneficial to your skin. Sugar is a natural exfoliate, helpful in removing dead skin cells. Honey is hydrating and contains antioxidants. It has been a well known beauty treatment since the days of Cleopatra. Green tea contains flavonoid polyphenols which combat aging. I really like the benefit of that. Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, and Grapeseed Oil all contain vitamin E and are extremely moisturizing for your skin. Scrubs like these can be pretty pricey to purchase at bath and beauty stores, but making it at home saves you a ton. This recipe will cost you less than $2.00 worth of ingredients. Plus, you have the added benefit of knowing exactly what is in your facial scrub!
This would make a great gift in a Valentine, Birthday, or Christmas spa basket for the special women in your lives.
Green Tea and Honey Face Scrub
Ingredients:
1 cup Organic Granulated Sugar
½ cup local raw Honey
3 Green Tea Bags, or the equivalent of loose leaves
1/3 cup Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, or Grapeseed Oil
1 airtight Glass Jar or other container
Essential Oil, optional
Combine all ingredients in a medium sized bowl, mix thoroughly to incorporate well. You want your final result to be a thick, smooth paste. I love the smell just as it is, but feel free to add a few drops of your favorite 100% natural essential oil to customize it to your liking.
To use:
Scoop out a small amount, apply to a wet face, scrubbing in circles, especially in your T Zone area. Let it sit for 5 minutes. Rinse well, and moisturize as usual. I personally like to use Coconut Oil for my moisturizer.
While this is gentle enough for your face, you can also use this as an all over body scrub for a really invigorating experience
