Homemade Natural Bug Spray

My grandson is one of the main reasons for this post today. When we went camping in June, the mosquitoes loved him! They bite him, and bite him and bite him some more! They were super swollen, super itchy, and just darn right ugly! My daughter bought several different bug sprays from the local store but none of them worked. I felt so bad for him. I promised him, my daughter, and myself that when I got back home, I was going to make my own bug spray that would work on those pesky mosquitoes! It’s what a blogger does, after all!

I did a little research on mosquitoes and what attracts them to us. One thing that I found, is that we each put out a different odorant. This odorant attracts the mosquitoes and helps them find that perfect person to take a bite out of. Mosquitoes are more attracted to one odorant over another, which is why one person may get bite a lot and another person doesn’t. The odorant that we put off is also the reason why one bug spray works on one person and not another. With saying that, please keep in mind that this natural homemade bug spray that I am sharing with you today, may not work on everyone.

This bug spray has a great scent. I have been tempted to use it as a air freshener, I like the scent that much! Let me know if  you give it a try and how it worked on you and your loved ones.

  11. The bugs just love nibbling on baby girl, & I have been looking for a safe, natural alternative to store bought bug repellants. Pinned this one to give it a try- thank you! Do you have a favorite site online to buy the oils?

    • Carrie, I love buying my oils from Mountain Rose Herbs. You can find them on my side bar. They are located about 2 hours from me. Disclosure: If you order something from them thru my link, I get a small percentage from them.

  12. I every time emailed this web site post page to all my associates,
because if like to read it afterward my links will too.
