How to Freeze Peppers

Do you have a garden?  Do you grow peppers?
You might want to plant a few extra plants this year after today’s Kitchen Basics 101 post!

How to Freeze Peppers

Yes, you can freeze peppers and use them all year round.
I do it all the time and it’s so wonderful to reach in to my freezer and pull out a handful
of chopped peppers to use in a quick meal.
AND it saves money.
Those bags of frozen peppers are not cheap.

Chop up your peppers into the size you want and place on a baking sheet
 lined with aluminum foil…

Place in the freezer for about 30 to 45 minutes or until
the peppers are frozen…

Place the frozen peppers in a freezer-safe storage bag.
The peppers will be good for months and because they were frozen on a baking tray,
they will not clump or stick together.
Works GREAT with onions also!

Hi Robyn – I found you through one of the link parties (can’t remember which one!). This is such a great idea. I do this when freezing berries, but have never done it with peppers or onions. But my frozen peppers and onions always end up as a mush mess, so this makes perfect sense.

I do mine like this also. It makes it so easy to just reach in and grab however much you need for soups, stews and stir frys. It sure saves a lot of time!

I freeze chopped peppers all the time, but never had thought to put them on a baking sheet so they aren’t in a big clump! I will have to try this.
    Thanks for the tip.
