Turkey Burger with Bruschetta Topping

Who doesn’t love a great bbq’d burger? (Besides a vegetarian, of course!) I love combining new flavors with my burgers to break out of the beef burger mold. This Turkey Burger  is filled with rich tasting sun dried tomatoes and gets some earthiness from fresh mushrooms too. Eat it plain or top it with some bruschetta for an extra treat. Check out the recipe below!

Turkey Burger with Bruschetta

Turkey Burger with Bruschetta Topping

1 lb ground Turkey
1/2 cup Sundried Tomatoes, roughly chopped
1/2 cup Portobello Mushrooms, finely chopped
1/4 cup grated Parmesan Cheese
1/4 cup Panko crumbs
1/4 cup Parsley, finely chopped
4 slices Cheese {I used mozzarello/provolone blend}
Bruschetta for topping {optional}

1. In a large bowl, combine turkey through parsley. Use hands to mix well. Form into 4-6 hamburger patties. Press thumb into middle of patty to keep from puffing during cooking.

2. Heat grill over medium heat. Oil grates {or spray burgers with nonstick spray}. Add burgers to grill. Cook for 5-7 minutes. Flip, and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes or until done. Add cheese and grill for 1 minute or until melted. Serve burgers topped with bruschetta.

    I love bruschetta, so I don’t know why I never thought of it as a topping for a burger. One of my favorites right now is to put some coleslaw on the burger instead of lettuce. A little messier, but worth it.
